
Vijay Shankar is an all-rounder who has played for India in ODIs and T20Is. He was born in Terunelveli, Tamil Nadu on January 26, 1991. He made his domestic debut in a List A game for Tamil Nadu against Andhra on February 20, 2012. He made his first-class debut against Vidarbha at Nagpur in December 2012. After three and a half months, he made his T20 debut against Andhra.
Shankar was a part of India's white-ball squad from March 2018 to June 2019. The right-arm medium pacer became the first Indian to take a wicket on the first ball of his ICC World Cup debut in 2019 against Pakistan. He started his Indian Premier League (IPL) journey with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The right-handed batsman made his IPL debut against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 13, 2014 in Ranchi.
