Virat Kohli: A genuine talent

Well, as the saying goes “with great power, comes great responsibilities”. India’s youth icon, Virat Kohli, is the most extraordinary breakthrough of this present era. He is a limited edition of his own species including other young guns like Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Praveen Kumar and only a few more to name. This ‘young blood’ knows no failure and is willing to do anything and everything for the game.

Virat Kohli announced his arrival in the grand arena when he started the U-19 World Cup campaign in style by scoring a century on his debut match in 2008 in Malaysia. In the same year, scoring a sterling knock in Australia in Emerging Players Tournament, he was a sight of the then pyring Indian eyes. Owing to his stunning performances, ‘that’ awaited moment in his life had come when he got an SMS from Dhoni to play for India. His debut ODI match against Sri Lanka was an aspiring start for him when he scored half a ton of runs. Though he is not a hard hitter of the ball, his timing, placement, execution and the range of shots is simply stupendous.

Since then, there was never a look back for him. He just grew and matured as a player who made a distinguished identity for himself at the early years of his career by storming into the ICC top batsman ratings and currently maintains a no. 3 spot. He has continuously proved himself whenever given a chance and played quite a number of instrumental innings when his team was in jeopardy. His talent till date is undoubted. That’s what makes him ‘a class apart’ performer from the rest of the new comers who came and were lost into a fake world of fame, got lured by Uncle Sam and finally forgot their ultimate desideratum. And we lost good talents. But he is a unique brat.

His attitude towards his game is similar to that of God of cricket ‘Sachin Tendulkar‘. Both are quick learners of their mistakes and are in hunger of more and more cricketing knowledge.No double thoughts, being a typical modern-day cricketer, Kohli is an aggressive on field player, a paradigm of ‘emotional roller coaster’ and an off field dude, yet retains the element of maturity that forms an integral part of every good and great player.

Eminent leadership skills, beseeming and a veracious temperament, hallmark strokes and rock solid techniques, accounting for his all prodigious and inconceivable attributes, India surely sees a future captain and Master Blaster in him.
