Virat Kohli became the fastest ever batsman in the history of One Day Cricket to reach 19 centuries on Wednesday. The latest century came against Bangladesh, not surprisingly in a winning run chase, which helped India break its 8 match losing streak.

The number 3 batsman graciously dedicated the feat to his late father, who he claims, is responsible for the player and person he is today.

“I always thank my dad every time I achieve something. He worked very hard to help me get where I am,” he said.

The stand-in captain heaped praise on Ajinkya Rahane, who contributed 73 in their 213-run partnership for the third wicket.

“It was very important for someone like Ajinkya to bat through the innings. He was playing so well in New Zealand and South Africa and he played beautifully here too. He is a very positive guy and works very hard. So it was good for us to stay together till the end,” Kohli said.

Kohli also praised the bowling performance on the day.

“We bowled well today and there was an improvement in the death overs. It was good to see everyone step up in the absence of Dhoni,” he said.

Kohli will hope to lead his side to victory in his next assignment against a tough looking Sri Lankan side on the 28th of February.
