Virat - The man of the moment

What’s the news, it’s about Congress government. What’s the sports news, well it’s about Virat Kohli. Yes the legend is in the making. We all are very excited about that. We all have one more shoulder to depend upon, one more life to pray for. “Go Virat go” is the norm of the game. Noise has doubled, grounds have rumbled, the feeling is all high and we cheer in unison “Virat”.

Why so much of hype in such short time? Why has the man come so close to god (Sachin) in much shorter time than any legend in his own time? Sachin’s first time failure is remembered by everybody. But in today’s fast moving world we only see what Virat has in store for today’s match. Life is fast here. Your failure is not noticed. Virat has worked upon such that he is able to make most of the given opportunity. Cricket fans have one thing to cheer for and that is Virat is on the crease. In such short time he has become the run scorer and Mr. Dependable. Holding wickets, maintaining partnership, quick runs between wickets, fours and sixes at required time, he has shown the perfect world of cricket match.

Dhoni and Virat

We saw Dhoni making it big in his first match, coming up at the time when India needed the wicketkeeper. Dhoni gave India both, a good wicketkeeper and other a good batsman. But when Virat came, India was in dire need of middle-order batsman. the one who can hold India and sail it through tough times. Today every cricket enthusiast can say it proudly, we have Virat at the middle. We have him where we want him and we are very sure he won’t disappoint us. Virat has matched the expectations of the cricket crowd. He has made it big at times when India needed a strong support.

Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and others – all the Indian legends have become things of past so soon. We remember them but only when we want to compare them. He is as good as Kapil dev. He will surpass Sunil Gavaskar’s record. And it goes on to comparison in every field. Virat has shown what it takes to be amongst the shining stars. He can enter the world of perfect example of success in a monopolistic competition.

When we were small our parents would ask us to go and play and we would pick the bat and run towards the field. Yesterday while batting we would act as Sachin, today we would love to be Virat Kohli. Is the cycle repeating? The legends are coming back. Are these the only facts to take him to so much perfection? This can be exemplified by the awards bestowed on him. Award coming from ICC awarding “best cricketer of the year” to Virat. This one award is the best proof of his performance.

We can assure ourselves there is one person who still is at crease. There is one more batsman who can bring us victory. We have one man who brings us luck and victory. That is because when we win we are happy. And when we are happy we work better.
