What's the Story?
India won the third Test match at Melbourne after defeating Australia by a huge margin of 137 and took an unassailable lead of 2-1 in the four-match series. After the match ended, Indian skipper Virat Kohli looked in quite a generous mood as he interacted with the Indian fans at the MCG and even gifted his pads to a young cricket fan in the stands.
In case you didn't know...
Of late, Virat Kohli has been interacting a lot with the Indian fans whenever Team India plays Test matches overseas. We had seen him obliging a fan's request in England when she was eagerly waiting for Virat's autograph and Virat was also spotted giving his autographs to fans at the Gabba ahead of India's first T20I against Australia.
The heart of the matter
Amidst the wild celebrations which commenced in the MCG after the visitors wrapped up the Test match on day 5, skipper Virat Kohli decided to celebrate this victory in a unique way. While celebrating near the boundary line, Kohli suddenly went towards the stands with his pads in his hands and gave it to a young Indian fan who was celebrating the team's victory.
It can be seen in the video above that someone else tried to take that pads from Kohli but the Indian captain denied him and handed over the pads to the young fan. This could supposedly be Virat Kohli's special gift to the fan on New Year's Eve.
What's Next?
With India winning the Boxing Day Test match, they have managed to retain the Border-Gavaskar trophy and Virat Kohli and co. would be looking to win their first ever Test series Down Under when they take the field at SCG on 3rd January.
