#3 86 vs Sri Lanka, 2005

The 86 all-out that Bangladesh fell to in the first Test of their tour of Sri Lanka in 2005 remains the lowest third innings total to date. It was a timid attempt at survival by the visitors, who were trailing Marvan Atapattu by 182 runs before the commencement of the innings.
Instead of stepping up to the challenge, Bangladesh went deeper into their hole, yielding seven wickets to Sri Lanka's spin bowling attack of Muralitharan and Rangana Herath. They were cleaned within 28 overs by the hosts, who eventually won the match by the massive margin of an innings and 96 runs.
It is worthy to be noted that Mohammad Rafique bowled brilliantly in the Sri Lankan innings, managing to take a five-wicket haul against the dominant hosts. However, his inspired efforts eventually went down the drain, as Bangladesh failed to hold the fort in their second batting innings of the match.
