Shubman Gill is one of the most prominent talents in Indian cricket. Gill shot into prominence after his sensational show in the U19 World Cup in 2018. He was named the man-of-the-tournament and earned a lucrative contract in the IPL.

Playing for Kolkata Knight Riders, Gill has played some eye-catching knocks. However, it's his performances in the domestic circuit that have earned him a lot of praise.

A regular in the India A side, Gill was handed his ODI cap earlier this year in New Zealand. And despite a poor debut series, he was always on the selectors' radar.

The 19-year-old was almost certain of selection in India's squad for the West Indies series. But with Virat Kohli deciding against taking a break, Gill had to miss out.
