What not to read from Australia-England one day series

Ram

Contrary to popular wisdom, Australia are 5-1 up in the one day series. The series was thought to be tightly fought or at least evenly matched. But, the score line is totally one sided. What happened?

England crushed Australia with surgical precision in the Test Series. Australia actually looked out of sorts. Now, in one-day series, at the first glance, the table looks turned and in fact, it’s Australia, the supposed prey, who has become the hunter.

What went wrong with England?

England came with a mission. This was their best chance in decades to retain Ashes down under. They succeeded. Now, this is a tour, which is on for many a months, and at key moments, England are losing it. They are away, weary, and tired.

While, Australia are playing with some fresh players. Make no mistake, despite the not-that-much-to-talk, but enough-to-talk performance of David Hussy-Shaun Marsh-and- Brothers brigade, the atmosphere in and out of team must have changed. And, if the 160 odd from Watson, who won the first one dayer on his own, could not have lifted the team, then what else would have had?

Make no mistake, England have won the war. What Australia winning means to me, is the pirates looting the markets of a savaged city now.

The World Cup will be a WAR. England WILL come with arsenal. No one, I have never, discounts the Australia. But, thinking that, Australia suddenly become a big contender, or the ‘defender’ and England are over rated, is premature, is unwise.
