England’s Hunt for Their Best Pacers

The English line-up for the World Cup is almost fully settled. The batting line-up has no holes at the moment and the two spinners – Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid – are also doing well. Among the pacers, Chris Woakes has performed well with his ability to bowl a consistent line and length while Liam Plunkett’s height provides variety.
The question for England is, who should be their third seamer – if required. There are some exciting options. Mark Wood’s furious spell in the final Test has raised expectations from him. The only ingredient missing from England’s line-up is an out-and-out pacer and Wood could be the person to fill that void.
However, Tom Curran too showed good skills in his short ODI career and could be given an opportunity. David Willey doesn’t have express pace but is the only left-armer in the vicinity of the team. Wood, Curran and Willey are fighting amongst themselves in this series for that third seamer spot. Which one emerges as the leader remains to be seen.
Of course, Joffra Archer’s name is doing the rounds as a possible late entrant. That question won’t be answered in this series.
