Yashasvi Jaiswal's controversial dismissal was the final nail in the coffin for India on Day 5 in the Boxing Day Test against Australia in Melbourne. The hosts wiped out the rest of India's tail and pulled off a remarkable 184-run victory to gain a lead of 2-1 heading into the final game of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) in Sydney.

The drama unfolded in the 71st over, when Yashasvi Jaiswal and Washington Sundar were striving hard to force a draw with around 20 overs left. Australian captain Pat Cummins bowled a short delivery down the leg side, which saw Jaiswal trying to pull it. However, he could not get a proper connection with the bat and seemingly edged it, which was caught by keeper Alex Carey.

On-field umpire Joel Wilson deemed it not-out, but Cummins immediately challenged the decision. Although, the snicko didn't pick up the noise, the third umpire found that the ball made contact with the gloves and overturned the original decision. As a result, Jaiswal was dismissed for 84 off 208 balls.

The decision from the third umpire drew mixed reactions from the cricket fraternity and fans. On that note, let's take a look at the top five expert reactions to Yashasvi Jaiswal's dismissal on Monday.

#1 Dinesh Karthik

Former Indian keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik shared his opinion on Yashasvi Jaiswal's dismissal in an interaction with Harsha Bhogle on Cricbuzz. As per Karthik, there was a clear deflection off Yashasvi's gloves, and it had to deemed out. He said:

"I tweeted and asked people if they thought it was out or not out. A lot of people have said yes and in my opinion as well both dismissals [Yashasvi and Akash Deep] were pretty straightforward. Yes the snicko didn't pick up the pull of Yashasvi. I thought there was a clear deflection and it is out."

Karthik also insinuated that Jaiswal knew that he made a little connection with the ball when it went past his bat and gloves.

"I kind of felt that Yashasvi was walking almost once it was taken but obviously he stood his ground and waited for it."

#2 Sunil Gavaskar

One-half of BGT, legendary Sunil Gavaskar was furious with the third umpire's call. He feels despite the presence of high-end technology, it was not taken to use in an efficient manner. Gavaskar termed it as a "wrong decision".

"If you are using technology, then use technology only. Whatever I am seeing, I always say that this is an optical illusion. This is an optical illusion. There is snicko, what does snicko say? Snicko is a straight line. So it is absolutely not out," Gavaskar said on Star Sports.
"It's a wrong decision. Absolutely wrong decision. Otherwise, don't use technology. If you are going to go with optical illusion, then don't use technology at all. It's simple. It's very simple," he added.

#3 Parthiv Patel

Former Indian keeper Parthiv Patel took part in an interaction on Cricbuzz. Although Patel felt that there was a deflection, he wondered how visual evidence took precedence over snicko. He said:

"You saw that deflection there, but the final confirmation from snicko didn't prove that to be true."
"Almost all umpires except the one today would have not given it not-out after not seeing any deflection in snicko. Generally, snicko is the final conclusion and the on-field umpire's decision was not-out and the third umpire had no concrete evidence to overturn the decision," he added.

#4 Ricky Ponting

During his commentary stint on Channel Seven, former Australian captain Ricky Ponting was quite sure about Jaiswal's gloves nicking the ball. He felt that there was no need of "argument", saying:

"They can make of it what they like. That clearly hit the glove. Jaiswal actually started to walk as soon as he knows they went upstairs, he started to take couple of steps away. Snicko has proven to be correct. The umpire picked up the deflection. As far as I'm concerned, there's no argument whatsoever."

#5 Sanjay Manjrekar

Former cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar shared his reaction to the dismissal on Star Sports. According to him, Jaiswal seemed to have made contact with the ball, but felt any other third umpire would have not overturned the decision of the on-field umpire.

"These are not the best angles, there was one angle given which was front-on, and that's where you see the deflection when you see it visually, then you see the snicko that reconfirms everything. Any other umpire would have gone, well, if the Snicko was not showing it - and I love Snicko as a technology - I'm not going to give that out. That also would be accepted by us," Manjrekar was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
