India's lead speedster, Jasprit Bumrah, once again showed why he is among the best in the business at present. On the fourth day (Sunday, December 29), of the ongoing fourth Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test in Melbourne, the pacer gave the Australians a tough time with an incredible spell.

As India wrapped up their innings at 369, the hosts walked out to bat for their second innings. Bumrah began by removing the dangerous Sam Konstas, not allowing the youngster to dominate this time around.

He then went on to pick up the big wickets of Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, and Alex Carey in quick time. In the process, he completed 200 Test wickets and broke a plethora of records. The hosts were down to 91/6 at one point, thanks to Bumrah's fiery spell.

The Indian pacer finished the day with figures of 4/56 from 24 overs, bowling at an economy rate of 2.3. Bumrah was breathing fire as he bowled an absolutely sensational spell that kept India in the hunt.

His brilliance left everyone in awe including the fans and experts. That said, here are some of the expert reactions to his spell in the second innings of the BGT 2024-25 4th Test.

Who said what - top 5 expert reactions to Jasprit Bumrah's brilliant spell in 2nd innings of BGT 2024-25 4th Test

#5 Irfan Pathan

Irfan Pathan, the former Indian all-rounder, lauded Jasprit Bumrah for his magnificent bowling. He stated that there hasn't been a bowler better than Bumrah in Indian cricket.

"There hasn't been a better bowler quality-wise in Indian cricket history. You expect him to take wickets in every spell and he doesn't disappoint 99.9 percent. We saw that today as well. (Sam) Konstas might have done it (hit Bumrah) once in the first innings but he didn't let him do it again," Pathan said on Star Sports.

He went on to add that Bumrah is brilliant when it comes to setting up batters and is well aware of what to bowl to whom.

"He bowls the most incredible lengths. He sets the batters brilliantly. Mitchell Marsh is struggling for rhythm and if Bumrah is in front of him, he will struggle even more. Alex Carey's wicket showed that he knows he should bowl short against which batter and full against which batter That's why - Waah, waah Bumrah," he stated.

#4 Parthiv Patel

Former Indian wicketkeeper-batter Parthiv Patel also appreciated Jasprit Bumrah's efforts. He stated that Bumrah knows how to comeback and perform consistently.

"Bumrah is Bumrah. In the first innings, he gave runs but how a bowler makes a comeback and brings consistency in the game, no matter what stage or country, Bumrah has the experience of bowling everywhere and he has the skills as well," Parthiv Patel said on Cricbuzz.

The former cricketer also expressed that this will be known as Bumrah's generation.

"If you dig out the history of Indian cricket, there will only be Jasprit Bumrah's generation. There has been no one like him and there will be none after him as well. Even the numbers back him. When he completes his Test career, he may not have 500 wickets but the way he bowls, shoulders the responsibility alone and is needed everywhere, helping India comeback time and again," Parthiv added.

#3 Adam Gilchrist

Former Australia wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist fell short of words to describe Jasprit Bumrah's incredible display with the ball. Gilchrist described the Indian pacer as a world-class performer and stated that he is playing on a different planet.

“It is just a different ball game, a different planet, that Bumrah is playing on compared to everyone else in the game. It is so impressive to watch. We are running out of words to describe it. He is a world class performer, one of the best we have ever seen operating here at the MCG," Gilchrist told Fox Cricket.

#2 Dinesh Karthik

Another former Indian wicketkeeper-batter, Dinesh Karthik also heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah for his stellar spell. He spoke about how Bumrah put Konstas in the corner after being hit by him in the first innings.

"Bumrah put him in that corner where he said Hey Sam (Konstas) you played really well in the first innings but let me tell you why I am the best in the world. He came and threw some questions which Sam Konstas didn't have answers for. In the second innings, Bumrah came back and said here we go, I'll show you why I'm so good," Karthik said on Cricbuzz.
"His first spell was really good but when he came back in the second spell, he got Travis Head. He bowls jaffas, that's the truth. The pressure of him bowling jaffas gets you wickets. Fantabulous what Bumrah is doing. Really running out of superlatives. Like what Beethoven is to music, Bumrah is to bowling. Beyond the uniqueness, there is also mental character that comes along. Towards the end of the day he literally bowled his heart out. India, Rohit Sharma, and everybody who are cricket fans are blessed to have Bumrah," Karthik further expressed.

#1 Sanjay Manjrekar

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar also lauded Jasprit Bumrah for his display. He opined that every time Bumrah comes on to bowl, it appears as though he will pick up a wicket.

He also compared Bumrah to New Zealand's Richard Hadlee, stating that the Indian pacer does exactly what Hadlee used to do.

“Jasprit Bumrah is facing a Richard Hadlee-like situation. Hadlee was given spells of four overs, and whenever he came onto the ball, it looked like something was going to happen and he was going to get a wicket. The ball started doing a lot when Hadlee bowled, but the same didn’t happen with other bowlers. Bumrah is doing the same. Whenever he is getting a ball, it looks like he will pick up a wicket," Manjrekar told on Star Sports.
