Asia Cup 2018: Why resting Virat Kohli for Asia Cup is not right

ICC World Twenty20 India 2016: Semi-Final: West Indies v India

3) He could have been rested during the West Indies tour

<p>

With West Indies touring India just after the Asia cup in October for two Tests, five ODIs and three T20Is, Virat could have been rested then for the much-needed break before the Australian tour.

West Indies no longer being a very threatening side and India playing on home soil wouldn't have been a great challenge for the team. India would be easy favourites to win the series in Tests and ODIs. Rohit Sharma could have led in ODIs and T20Is and Rahane in Tests.

New players could also be tried then before the important Australian tour and the World Cup next year.
