2023 is the year of the world cup in cricket as we recently witnessed India clinching the inaugural U-19 world cup. Following this, we also have the Women’s T20 World Cup, and the Men’s World Cup. We’re sure this made the cricket fan inside you jump with excitement!
The Women’s T20 World Cup is the one just around the corner and the buzz is in the air as the top teams of the world are just a few days away from competing for the grandest prize in the T20 format.
The eighth edition of the championship will be hosted by South Africa. The mega event will kickstart on 10th February 2023, with the final to be played on 26th February 2023. The U-19 tournament was also played in South Africa.
As far as the teams are concerned, a total of 10 nations have been divided across 2 groups. Australia, Bangladesh, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka have been placed in Group A. On the other hand England, India, Ireland, Pakistan, and West Indies will go against each other in Group B. The Proteas automatically qualified as the hosts, while Bangladesh, and Ireland made it via a qualifying tournament. The remaining 8 teams got their place on the basis of their ICC T20 team rankings. Australia who won their 5th title in the previous edition in 2020 will defend their title against nine others. Host South Africa, and Sri Lanka will be in action in the first match on Feb 10, 2023.
The tournament was supposed to take place a year ago in 2022, however, the Covid-19 pandemic pushed it to 2023. The fans in South Africa are ecstatic to host and watch the game unfold in their own country.

"We hope all the players taking part will enjoy their time on the big stage and more young girls will pick up the bat and ball to play the game."
