“So what if we lost the toss,

Our game proved to the world who’s the real boss.

Inspite of the playing conditions being sweaty and hot,

Skipper Dhoni concluded the finals with a Helicopter shot!”

All possible emotions came flooding in when the game concluded with team India winning the World Cup Finals by 6 wickets!

Wankhede rose up to a new day of festivity with a wonderful display of fireworks, immense cheering, Team India flaunting its much deserved WC Trophy and the sheer excitement of history repeating itself once again.

Picture perfect smiles beamed on the faces of Indian players and a sense of national pride exuberated from them. These men made the nation proud by winning its ‘unofficial’ national game!

Wankhede stadium which was already lit up, shone more brightly when the camera occasionally flashed our smiling film stars, political leaders and business tycoons.

The celebrations were worth a watch on the streets as well. Rallies of bikes zoomed past the empty streets chanting ‘India, India’. Many boys carried the Indian flag along as they rode their bikes. But the bike riders weren’t the only ones enjoying the adrenaline rush. There were cars and auto rickshaws jammed pack with youth, which swept through the city and called for the celebrations to begin.

And with this victory, the political parties were unstoppable. This was the moment they were desperately waiting for. As was seen earlier, politicians from the Congress and other parties paid their visits to various religious places to seek Divine Blessings for the Men in Blue. After the Blessings had been granted, there was no stopping them!

A political party organized a rally in our area. A group of men approached my residence playing Dhols and dancing to the tune of Victory! It seemed much more like a baraat than celebrations for winning a cricket match. Many of my friends termed India’s triumph as Diwali and Dussehra!

The ‘city that never sleeps’ lived upto it’s name. The city indeed didn’t sleep last night, as the party had only just begin! And the party will go on, for behold the rise of a new India.
