Andrew Strauss was a destructive left-handed batsman who played for England. He had been playing for England since he was very young.
Under his leadership in 2011 World Cup, the British team reached quarter finals but failed to clinch the victory in quarters against hosts Sri Lanka.
Andrew Strauss was a player who focused more on the ODI and Test cricket. He has an impressive average in both the formats.
After the defeat in World Cup 2011, he retired from the ODI Cricket and after reaching the milestone of 100 tests, he also bid farewell to test cricket in the year 2012.
After the 2015 World Cup, Andrew Strauss was appointed as the director of the England and Wales Cricket Board to bring more transparency in the board and to remove any restrictions which the England Cricket Team would face in the future.
However, a few months earlier, due to his wife’s battle with cancer, he stepped down as the director of ECB to support his family.
