He stepped down as the captain of the team after the World Cup in 2011 and passed the captainship to Ross Taylor.

He was a part of the team in the 2015 World Cup which had reached the finals. This finale proved out to be his final match as he bid adieu to the cricket world.

Daniel Vettori was the head coach of IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2014 to 18.

He was recently released as a coach by RCB as they announced Gary Kirsten as their new coach. Vettori is currently spending time with family and enjoying his life after retirement.
