World Cup 2011: Sachin's last frontier!

The Indian little Master, Sachin Tendulkar has International cricket records galore to his credit. Still he has never been able to embrace the World Cup. It is his last chance. The whole world is watching.

In India, cricket is considered to be a religion with Sachin Tendulkar as a Godly figure. Billions of Indian fans want India to be victorious. The fans have always backed the team to win the cup. The previous 6 outings have not been successful. So, 25^th June 1983 still holds an important place in Indian Cricketing history. It was the day when Kapil Dev aloft the trophy in the jam packed stadium in Lords, the home of Cricket. Will Dhoni’s men be able to replicate it?

The Men in blue have promised to give their best and bring the trophy to India. All the senior players want to win the cup for Sachin who has been an aspiring model for many a players and the future generations too.

The en route to trophy will be a tough task. With the likes of England, Sri lanka, Australia in the wings, there are no room for errors especially in the latter half of the tournament. There will be a very thin line between defeat and a victory.

As the world cup is held in the Indian subcontinent, Indian players are sure to feel the pressure in front of their passionate fans where everyone has a personal opinion. There are going to be arguments between friends, colleagues, family members about the composition of the team, the venues, players’ performance etc. Their mouth can only be shut if India turns out victorious in the tourney. The Indian cricket team would be the talk of the town for some years to come.

The Indian team selected for the World cup has both experience and youth to bolster the squad. Sachin having played in the last 5 world cups is the most experienced and easily the main stay of our Indian batting line up. He has seen it all. He has been consistently performing with his willow. He also dreams to win the world cup like any other International player. It’s time to prove his mettle.

Most of the players pick themselves in the starting 11. They will have an additional pressure to perform. They can turn from heroes to zeroes and vice versa. Even the likes of Sachin, Sehwag, Yuvraj, Zaheer will not be spared by our media and fans if they do not play up to the mark. One day they may be praised by all and sundry and next day their posters may be burnt in public places. Its Indian Cricket fans for you.

One of the most infamous sights during the last world cup was when India lost in the first round. The faces in the pavilion had a sad story to tell. The picture still remains afresh in many minds. They were considered to be favourites to lift the title, like this world cup. They cannot even think of such a disaster this time around. If it would be the case, chappals and tomatoes would be welcoming them in their hometowns.

World cup 2011 trophy would be an ideal gift from the Indian team to Sachin Tendulkar, who has served Indian cricket for decades. The favourite son of Indian cricket longs to have a world cup medal in his trophy cabinet at his residence.

Sachin has brought many a smiles on the faces of Indian cricketers and fans. He has always played for the team. Can Dhoni’s team play for Sachin this time and make his dream come true?
