The Pakistani fans regard Shoaib Malik as one of the most important pillars of the their team. Malik made his debut in the year 1999 and stood for his side whenever his team required him the most. He has been the perfect example of a calm cricketer who knows how to handle the pressure. Playing the sport for 20 years, Shoaib Malik emerged as one of the best spin-bowling all-rounders.

Shoaib Malik had a great ODI career which started against West Indies in 1999 and ended against India in 2019. He retired with 7534 ODI runs under his belt, along with 158 wickets with the ball. He had announced his retirement from the Test format in the year 2015 to focus on the 2019 World Cup.

Even though the all-rounder was not at his best in the World Cup, he bid farewell to the game like a gentleman and accepted the team's decision to drop him out of the starting XI after the match against India.
