England ended its 44-year World Cup drought with a thrilling win over New Zealand at Lord's on 14th July. With this, the mega event came to an end and a new Cricket World Cup Champion was crowned for the first time since 1996.

Shakib Al Hasan proved why is he such a highly-rated all-rounder in the world with his distinctive performances in the tournament. The left-hander decided to bat at no. 3 in the tournament. The 32-year-old garnered 606 runs in the tournament at an astonishing average of 86.57 and with an impressive strike-rate of 96.03, which includes 2 centuries and 5 half-centuries, with a top-score of 124* against West Indies.

The slow left-arm orthodox bowler was magnificent with the ball too. In eight games, the left-armer scalped 11 wickets with the best performance of 5/29 coming against Afghanistan.

Shakib was awarded MoM for the first time in the tournament against South Africa where he not only scored a consummate 75 off 84 balls but also scalped a wicket of opener Aiden Markram. He was economical in his spell too.

Returning after a 1-year ban, David Warner was hungry for runs more than ever. Warner, too, was monumental in his approach.

With a strike-rate of 71.88 and at an average of 89.36, Warner amassed 647 runs in just 10 innings, which included 3 centuries and 3 half-centuries, with a top-score of 166. The southpaw won his first MoM award against Afghanistan where he scored a brilliant 89 off 114 deliveries, helping Australia earn an easy win.

The Paddington-born won his second MoM against Pakistan. The left-handed opener showed his aggressive intent from the beginning and was ably supported by his partner Aaron Finch. The duo took the Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners as they raced to 146 runs in just 22 overs.

However, Finch missed his well-deserved century by 18 runs, Warner scored 107 runs off 111 deliveries as Australia managed to post 307 runs on the board. In reply, Pakistan fell short by 41 runs. His swashbuckling 166 runs off 147 balls against Bangladesh handed him his third MOM award while Australia got an easy win.

With 5 hundreds and 1 fifty to his name, Rohit Sharma amassed 648 runs in just 9 innings with an astounding average of 81 and at a staggering strike rate of 98.33. His top score in the tournament was 140 against arch-rivals Pakistan.

The 32-year-old won his first MoM for his first century of the tournament. India's pursuit of 228 against South Africa was dented by early wickets. However, Rohit stood at one end as he built crucial partnerships with KL Rahul and Dhoni to steer India home.

Against arch-rivals Pakistan, 'Hitman" hit a stirring 140 off just 113 deliveries as India posted a mammoth score of 336 runs on the board. In reply, Pakistan fell short by 89 runs as India maintained their clean sheet over their neighbours in the World Cup. Against Bangladesh, the right-hander scored 104 runs off 92 deliveries, helping India post 314 runs.

His fourth MoM came against Sri Lanka. Chasing 265, 'Ro-hit' started aggressively. He went on to score his fifth ton of the tournament as his 94-ball-103 helped India crush Sri Lanka and with it, they finished on top of the table.
