Who would have thought that England’s qualification dreams will rely on Sri Lanka? But after the Lankan Lions defeated them, the race has become interesting. Sri Lanka currently has 6 points from as many games.

Their remaining oppositions are South Africa, West Indies, and India. For England to be safe, Dimuth Karunaratne’s men need to lose at least two of these three games. With their horrific net run rate, that will mean an end to Sri Lanka’s journey.

#4 West Indies lose at least one of their remaining three games

Amongst all the teams that pose a threat to England’s semi-final dreams, West Indies are the least dangerous threat. With just 3 points from 6 games, they stand on the edge of a cliff. Having said that, they can still pull off a miracle if they win their remaining games.

India, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan are West Indies’ last three opponents. If they do go on a winning spree, they will end up on 9 points. So, England will have to hope that West Indies, at least for once, falter in their journey.
