Shimron Hetmyer is a stylish left-handed West India batsman who hails from Guyana. He shot into fame when he led the West Indian U19 team as captain to win the U19 World cup defeating India in the finals.
He has been part of the West Indies team since 2017. He has represented his country in 26 ODIs with a healthy batting average of 41.18 in ODI cricket. He has four centuries to his credit in his brief international career.
In the 2018 ODI series in India, he was the leading run scorer from the West Indies. He scored 259 runs from 5 matches at an average of 51.8 including a scintillating century at Guwahati and then followed it with a 64-ball 94.
His latest success in World Cup 2019 is a decent 54 (45) against a powerful New Zealand bowling unit comprising of Trent Boult, Matt Henry, Lockie Ferguson. With the Indian bowling attack in good form, Hetmyer will be banked on to produce the fireworks in the slog overs.
