Former Indian right-arm seamer and ex-bowling coach Venkatesh Prasad came down heavily on Zaheer Khan by commenting on his fitness. Prasad suggested that Zaheer has gone past his peak time of bowling.

“Technically, Zaheer is fantastic and has an excellent seam position. But I have seen him struggle a bit during the second spell in the longer format,” Prasad was quoted as saying by Times of India.

Zaheer Khan is the 4th leading wicket taker for India across all three formats of cricket. He has been playing for 14 years and he has picked up 597 wickets from 303 international matches.

Lately Zaheer’s fitness has been questioned numerous times. One of reason for him struggling is believed to be his age and the injuries he has sustained over the years.

“His fielding is a big liability and you can’t count much as far his batting is concerned. But as a bowler he is outstanding, especially in the initial spells.” said Prasad.

Prasad is concerned about the bowling side of Indian team and wishes to return back as Indian bowling coach.
