Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna and Padma Shri awardee Pankaj Advani stormed into finals of RKG-Khar gymkhana snooker masters PRO-AM 2013. Pankaj defeated Indian counterpart Siddharth Parikh 7-1 and booked his place in finale.27 year old Bangalore cueist fired four half century breaks and a century run on way to a 48-69,59-19,65-22,87-58,87-29,85-8,119-0,61-9 win in one sided first semifinal.semifinal was Best of 13 frames encounter.
“Pankaj was just too good for me today.i played with nothing to loose against a formidable opponent who was the favorite,but i am happy with my performance in the tournament.Reaching the semifinals in a star studded competition was an honour.” said Parikh after defeat. earlier Parikh made a big upset when he defeated Aditya mehta in quarterfinals.
Advani plays for PSPB(Petroleum Sports Promotion board).Two time world professional billiards champion now faces world no. 21 Stephen lee who defeated Michael Holt in another semifinal.
