With Tour de France 2016 only a matter of hours away, the cycling enthusiasts of the world are eagerly awaiting the riders who will undertake this arduous journey. The Tour de France attained a global fan base thanks largely to the popularity of the now scorned cyclist Lance Armstrong, who won it 7 times in a row from 1999 to 2005. Although not as popular now as the ‘Armstrong ‘years, it has its own cult following among cycling fans.
Chris Froome of Great Britain has won the last 2 editions of the race, and will be looking to make win a 3rd successive crown this year. He will go up against familiar faces such as Alberto Contador of Spain. The stage is set for 219 riders from 22 different teams to embark upon a journey spanning France, Spain, Andorra, Switzerland and finishing back in France. Let us take a look at the teams and riders who will take part in the 2016 edition of the world’s most gruelling race.
