The highly anticipated cricket game, Don Bradman Cricket 14, will feature a new addition, ‘the career mode’, a first for all cricketing games. The career mode means the player selects a side, and progresses through five ranks, climbing higher and higher in the hope of earning the right to join or even captain their international side. The game begins by picking a playing position for the rookie player in the side, either batsman, bowler, all-rounder or even wicket-keeper based on the performance of the gamer. The rookie player can participate in every delivery of every match, or otherwise skip portions that do not directly involve him. The career mode will also feature an internal nets section, which will allow the player to increase their attributes in between matches.
The career mode can last a maximum of 20 in-game years, as the custom made player makes their way through the cricketing world.
Big Ant Studios, who first released the game in April earier in the year, have also released a couple of patches from the raw game. The first one involves fielders running out batsmen with throws from the deep. The second patch relates to an issue with run-outs, wherein the non-striker would previously stand out of his crease and had to manually be told to get back. In the updated 2.0 version of the game however, the non striker lunges in desperation to reclaim his his ground after backing up too much.
Don Bradman Cricket 14 is a bold departure from how cricket games have played for decades. By game reviewers and enthusiasts alike, it is being widely called as the best cricket game ever. The game is published by Tru Blue Entertainment, an Australia based publishing subsidiary of Home Entertainment Suppliers, and has been launched on Microsoft Windows, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
