FIFA 14: improvements needed from FIFA 13 (PC version)

The first and foremost improvement required is better manual controls on the keyboard. Many of the skill games require manual controls and so its hard to win them while playing on a keyboard. And even leaving that alone, sometimes having manual controls during the game play can be sometimes important, as some passes or shots can just be ruined due to automatic controls.

The second improvement needed is a better impact engine, as sometimes it seems that the opposite player has clearly fouled our player, but the ref doesn’t give any foul. Even sometimes, due to glitches, some players just fly away by the slightest touch of other players. Though this problem seems to be solved by the ‘EA Ignite Engine’, rumours are there that the engine won’t come to the PC version. The ‘Weight’ column sometimes seems useless due to this.

Some stadiums like Camp Nou should be added and licensed as it seems just a bit odd for playing against/with Barcelona on a stadium like ‘El Libertador’. Tournaments like World Cup and Champions League should also be licenced. It doesn’t give much of an ‘authentic’ feeling playing with titles like ‘World Championship’ and ‘Champions Cup’ or ‘Euro League’.

Good teams like Japan & Croatia should be added. Even new tournaments should be added like the ‘Chinese Super League‘ or the ‘I-League‘ to grow FIFA’s already huge market in Asia.

The Manager mode should be much like a storyline, for e.g.: Press conferences should be much more creative. In the current version of the game, in a press conference, you only have the options to motivate, praise or unnerve someone in your team or the other team’s manager. More options like saying sentences or interacting with other people (players, managers) would help.

The gameplay shouldn’t be so much dependent on pace/speed. Players like Walcott, Bale, Valencia, etc. dominate too much of the game. Plus, the gameplay is not that authentic. You would expect a team like Barcá or Spain to press a team player by player and pass their way through a team. Instead, they play more like a simulation rather than playing more like real players.

The “Be A Player” mode should have more options, like discussing of wages with your manager, interacting with other players, etc. You should be able to interact with your manager. You should be able to practice a free kick or a particular shot on the training ground to increase your skill.
