Assassin's Creed Unity director Alex Amancio says, "I think it's unimaginable for us to ever let this ball drop."
Ubisoft has so much passion for the Assassin's Creed series that it can't imagine a time when the franchise sees it’s quality fall off. That's according to Assassin's Creed Unity creative director Alex Amancio, who told Game Informer that one of the secrets of the franchise's enduring success is the developers themselves.
"We've done this for a long time and we've gotten it down to a science," Amancio said. "Maybe the first one it was like, 'Oh, what do we do?' But now, it's just our daily business. We've been lucky, and I think it's mostly because of the people who are behind the product. The Assassin's Creed people, we're a huge family, and we love this brand so much that I think it's unimaginable for us to ever let this ball drop. We need to always make the best game that we can possibly make. And so far, that heart and that level of effort and professionalism, has always pulled us through."

Ubisoft has confirmed that the main character's name is Arno Dorian. While it might not sound as impressive as "Ezio" or "Altair," it does have an impressive meaning: "eagle-wolf" in Old German. This fits in with other Assassins whose names mean "eagle", like Ezio, Altair, and Haytham; brings in wolf-life imagery we got from Connor; and gives a possible nod toward Arno's position as a wolf among sheep.
Arno is described as "sharp and witty" with a good sense of humor, but simultaneously more "deadly" than we've seen from his predecessors, which is saying something. Like some of the Assassins who have come before, Arno joins the Assassins for personal reasons, looking to redeem himself for his part in the death of his adoptive father, François de la Serre. There's one tiny wrinkle though: while Arno was born of an Assassin bloodline, the adoptive father he's trying to avenge was the Grand Master of the Templar Order before his untimely demise.
The first Assassin's Creed title was released in 2007, and, after no new game in 2008, Ubisoft has released at least one new entry in the series every year since. This year, Ubisoft will release two installments, Assassin's Creed Rogue for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3; and Assassin's Creed Unity for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Both games will be released on November 11.
