Walking in collaboration with Disney Interactive and Lucasfilm, Developer DeNA, announced a new Star Wars tower defense mobile game today.
According to reports, Star Wars: Galactic Defense brings together the resource management and strategy of tower defence with the characters and experience of the famous sci-fi property. This appears to be a fixed-path tower defense game, where players will have to place their towers alongside paths to take out the advancing enemies. The game will feature characters from the prequel era and both the classic films, so expect all kinds of units to play as, picking either the dark side or light side. There will also be hero units that can be deployed in battle. Once launch week starts, players can collect credits to unlock Darth Maul.
Star Wars: Galactic Defense is coming to iPod Touch, iPhone, iPad and Android devices later this year. Players who pre-register on the game's site will get a notification with the exact release date.
After going through dire financial conditions, Sony at least for that time, seemed to stray away from the mobile scene last year, as the company sold $437 million of DeNA stock. DeNA continues to develop projects for mobile devices but has since been purchased by Japanese firm, Nomura Securities. Watch the video below to know more.
