According to reports, Catalina, a new female character for Tekken 7 was introduced by Tekken 7 producer, Katsuhiro Harada during Mad Catz’s TGS stream.
According to Harada, Catalina is described as a "sassy mouthed Latin American" who "will be vocal in-game". No game-play footage was shown during the live stream for us to see her in action, but according to IGN, her background is a Savate fighting style, which is a form of French boxing and kickboxing. Reports further tell that she’s going to be beginner-friendly. Showcasing Tekken’s emphasis on a new 2D fighting game mechanic, Catalina along with an unannounced character, will be playable at the location tests recently announced by Namco Bandai.

In addition to the new character, Harada went on to reveal that two new features are being developed for Tekken 7 and the game will now, after the hardcore player-focused Tekken Tag Tournament 2, focus on returning to “Tekken’s true essence”.
Announced at EVO 2014, Tekken 7 is the first numbered new release in the fighting series since 2007. Harada announced, at Comic-Con 2014 that the game will feature "a very detailed background story," that brings to a close the Mishima clan saga. This trailer gives you a taste of what to expect.
