2024 marks the 12th anniversary of Clash of Clans, but the latest update isn't something fans are really happy about. Released with the start of August, most feel that it hasn't brought anything exciting or worth looking forward to. The Clashiversary, as it's called, used to be something many gamers waited for as it brought a ton of offers, updates, and cool patches.
However, this one here has been slightly off target. Redditor u/Hydraulic_30 even linked two posts showing a comparison between the last anniversary and the current one, making this time's event seem rather plain.

Players feel that, compared to previous Clashiversaries, Clash of Clans' August roadmap just doesn't bring in the same levels of excitement. Reddit user Key_Blacksmith_7633 felt that the whole event was just "Ok" and "really boring."
"I feel that this 12th anniversary event is really boring. As an event, Anime Clash was Ok, even NICE... As an Anniversary, I give the Clash team an "F.""
Redditor u/Wardendelete felt that constant events make new ones feel less special and more of an add-on to the actual game. The OP agreed to this statement. To this, u/stonedboss replied by saying that they feel this event is one of the "weakest" there has ever been.
Many users feel that while the 12% builder boost is quite a killer deal, it still doesn't feel right when things that were actually fun have been removed. u/Camo_007_ aptly expressed her concern about the temporary troops in her comment:
"I miss when we got a challenge for every hero in a skin set when they released, rewards for those are lackluster but they're fun (probably why i loved haaland event, new bases every 2 days with the last one being incredibly hard to 3 star it took me a while to figure that one out)."
However, not everyone thinks it's bad as some users did find light in the 12% builder boost. u/Jaxinator234 commented:
"Wow so nobody seems that happy about the 12% other then me eh? I’m about to be th14 in two days and I play until max, this time reduction on top of gold pass will make me get out of th14 much faster then 13. And I’ve already got all the magic items I wanted from the event cuz I’ve been grinding."
What changed in Clash of Clans 12th Clashiversary?
The base game in Clash of Clans still remains legendary. It's just that many gamers feel these events or anniversaries seem to be getting rather bland and monochromatic. u/AdEducational1390 commented that older updates brought in many rewards and new items, adding that the 12th anniversary didn't bring in anything new.
Nevertheless, these updates only mean more surprises and goodies for Clash of Clans' players. Some are fine with the update as Clashiversaries bring in many cost-cuts in the in-game purchases and also reduced upgrade timings, making them something worth waiting for.
But then again, as the abovementioned reactions convey, Supercell can do better in terms of innovation and creativity.
