5 best tips for Black Myth Wukong beginners
1) Exploring is crucial
At first glance, Black Myth Wukong seems to be a linear experience. However, this title is filled with secret areas that give you access to a ton of new spells, items, crafting materials, and vendors. By taking your time to explore, you will also face optional bosses and get to meet new NPCs.
Exploring a small crack in the wall or following a snow-covered path can reveal much of Black Myth Wukong's beauty.
2) Preserve your Mana
The Destined One will get access to a bunch of spells during your time in Black Myth Wukong. Using these spells consumes Mana. There are three bars you have to take care of in the game’s combat: HP, Mana, and Stamina. HP can be recovered with your Gourd, while Stamina recovers on its own.
However, Mana can only be restored by resting at a Keeper’s Shrine. You will have to face quite a few enemies while traveling the distance between two Keeper’s Shrines, so it is best to use your Mana sparingly. If you feel confident in your ability to take down enemies without the use of spells, go for it and save your Mana for tougher enemies.
3) Don’t worry about spending your Sparks in the wrong place
Black Myth Wukong has six different skill trees in which you can invest your skill points or Sparks. When you see just how many options are available to you, it can feel a little daunting to pick just one skill to unlock. More often than not, you might get worried about spending your Sparks in the wrong place.
However, Black Myth Wukong excellently tackles this issue. Whenever you visit a Keeper’s Shrine, you will have the option to “Reignite the Sparks.” Selecting this option will allow you to reassign your Sparks to unlock different skills.
Since you can get your Sparks back at any Keeper’s Shrine, you can experiment and test out skills before committing to them. You can also use this feature any time you hit a roadblock. When you’re stuck, simply move a few Sparks around your skill tree to unlock new skills that can give you an advantage over certain enemies.

4) Make use of Celestial Medicines
After you’ve completed Xu Dog’s questline in Chapter 2, he will set up shop near the Crouching Tiger Temple’s Cellar Keeper’s Shrine. Xu Dog has plenty of useful items on sale, including Celestial Medicines. These can be used to permanently boost stats like Health, Stamina, Mana, Defense, and even your resistance to certain elements.
To make Celestial Medicines, you will need Mind Cores, which can be found in chests while exploring. They are also dropped by certain enemies.
If you wish to take on all the challenges Black Myth Wukong has in store for you, make sure to craft and use plenty of Celestial Medicines.
5) Dodge only when needed
Dodging is your first defense against enemy attacks in this title. This action is something you’ll need to master to efficiently tackle enemies in this game. It is similar to the parry in Sekiro Shadows Die Twice. However, unlike in Sekiro, you cannot make do by simply spamming the dodge button; you have to master the timing.
If you continue to spam, your dodges will become less agile, and you will also run out of stamina fairly quickly. It is important to dodge only when necessary. Making a habit out of spamming the dodge button is a quick way to die in this title.
