Angry Birds is a franchise that has produced over 30 games ever since it began its journey in 2009, and everyone must have played at least one game at some point. In this basic but addictive game, players assist a bunch of birds to retrieve their treasured eggs stolen by green pigs that intend to devour them. They must use the traditional slingshot and launch the birds at the pigs, that are surrounded or within certain constructions.

But not all 30 games were the best in their class. A few of them definitely made a greater impact than most of the others in the franchise. In this article, we'll list five such games that stand at the top among the rest.

Five best Angry Birds titles that hit the app markets

This was a matching game that was released in January 2019. Using bouncing bubbles, players progress through several stages and when these bubbles come into contact with each other, they fuse.

The game's design is drastically different from previous titles of the franchise, with cute chibi-like characters replacing their original appearance. Each level is loaded with various colored bubbles that bounce around according to standard physics laws.

2) Angry Birds Tennis

The game, released in February 2019, is exactly what it sounds like. Players battle to win a tennis match in the franchise's style, with power-ups and varying skills corresponding to the bird they choose.

It's another game from the franchise that was canceled soon after its soft launch, however, it's unclear why it was taken down from app stores so quickly.

3) Angry Birds Explore

This version was released in May 2019. It includes a variety of mini-games that players can unlock as they progress through the game. Angry Birds Explore is similar to Angry Birds Action! which has a range of other games to play other than pinball.

However, almost all the games are locked behind scanning real-life merchandise and this was a cheap way for Rovio to make some quick and easy money as you could not do much in the game if you did not buy a certain merch that you had to scan.

4) Angry Birds Casual

Players in the March 2020 release of this game will find themselves saying "Awww” as they must hurl birds at structures to save the baby birds in cages. Players can obtain new playable characters as they move higher through the ladder.

The "Casual" from its name was eventually changed to "Journey", most likely to dispel the perception that the game is too easy to be worthwhile (even though this is very much the truth).

5) Angry Birds Legends

This version of the game was released in March 2020. To vanquish adversaries, players take control of a human-like female bird. It maintains many of the classic themes throughout and it is one of the most enjoyable titles released by the franchise.

It is a fun RPG that, like The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, uses cards as skills. This is a wonderfully unique game that joins a lengthy list of products under this franchise. However, it was terminated shortly after its beta debut due to a failed testing process, even though players had received it really well all over the world.

Since its very early days, this series has been a hallmark of mobile gaming. Now, more than a decade later, the original game remains one of the most popular apps of all time, and even though the following versions have tweaked the concept significantly, they managed to retain what makes the brand unique.
