Best assault rifles in Escape from Tarkov for patch 0.15
1) SIG MCX-SPEAR
The SIG MCX-SPEAR 6.8x51 is the best assault rifle you can get your hands on in Escape from Tarkov. Combined with the SIG Hybrid, this weapon can shred through Class 6 armor without breaking a sweat. Despite being the best assault rifle you can use in patch 0.15, unlocking it might be a little troublesome as it is locked behind the Lightkeeper quest, Trouble in the Big City.
The quest also unlocks the SIG Hybrid ammo, so you can start shredding enemy armor and secure kills right after acquiring the weapon. Moreover, it is one of the fastest-firing ARs in the title with a whopping 800 RPM.

2) Mk47 Mutant
If you have a little extra Roubles to spare, the Mk47 Mutant is the next best choice. Like the SIG MCX-SPEAR, this assault rifle is locked behind a quest but can be unlocked fairly early in the wipe. Moreover, it uses the 7.62x39mm ammunition which is quite hard-hitting and can easily secure kills. It has a nice balance of flesh damage and armor penetration, making it a go-to ammo for not just Mk47 but all weapons of the same caliber.
A complete Mk47 build with all the meta attachments will cost you 300-400K Roubles, making it quite an expensive weapon, However, after scoring some easy eliminations, you will be repaid.

3) FN SCAR-L
From the 5.56x45mm caliber, FN SCAR-L has become a player-favorite as it received some new attachments and customizations. While this caliber may seem lacking from the last wipe, paired with the M855A1’s, it can easily drop enemies one by one. Since the weapon’s RPM is 650, in close-quarter fights it can lose to the other assault rifles; therefore, mid- to long-range fights best suit this weapon.
Moreover, this gun is quite cheap, making it a budget-friendly assault rifle in Escape from Tarkov. However, depending on your sight/scope preference, the build price may vary.
4) HK 416A5
The HK 416A5 assault rifle in Escape from Tarkov is the perfect weapon you can bring to a close-quarters fight. It can be equipped with either a long or short barrel depending on which map you want to go. The long barrel boosts the ammo velocity at the cost of low ergo while the shorter one boosts ergonomics and accuracy by a significant amount.
Paired with either the M855A1 or M856A1, it can easily eliminate enemies in a blink due to its high RPM.

5) AS VAL
Lastly, AS VAL is another assault rifle that you can use in Escape from Tarkov if you're more into the run-and-gun playstyle. Since it's one of the lighter guns in the game, with an exceptional RPM of 900, you can easily win every close-quarters encounter. Paired with good ammunition, it can also be viable in mid-range fights, though it's not recommended since the gun can jam before you secure the kill, giving the opponent the advantage.
While the gun is quite expensive, the complete build will not leave a hole in your pocket as you just need to attach a sight and a grip.
