5 beginner tips for Metaphor ReFantazio players

1) Keep changing Archetypes to suit gameplay needs

The game features unique battle styles, or personas if you will, for PvE combat called Archetypes. This includes terms such as Soldier, Mage, Healer, and more. With progression, however, many more Archetypes can be unlocked and used in gameplay.

It is recommended to try various Archetypes to find out which ones suit your playstyle needs best. They can also be unlocked for each character and even leveled up, so choose them wisely over the course of the playthrough.

2) Idlesday is the best day to stock up

A week in Metaphor ReFantazio lasts five days. Of those five, the fifth and final day is called Idlesday, and all the Kingdom's shops offer discounts on it. This also includes other characters such as Informants, who provide information regarding quests.

Should cash-strapped players need to upgrade their weapons or stock up on items, Idlesday is the best time to do so.

3) The side dungeons need clearing, fast

When you can access the open world, it is in your best interest to clear out the side dungeons as quickly as you can.

Apart from great EXP gains, regularly engaging in this helps with saving up MP for more important fights. With the limited story time available, completing the side dungeons quickly can prove very beneficial towards the end game.

4) Spend currency wisely

The game has two methods of currency, with the first being cash, and the second being MAG, a shortened form for Magic. While cash can be used to buy items, the latter is more useful for upgrading character skills and Archetypes in gameplay.

While it is possible to trade in MAG for standard currency, it is suggested to be vigilant while doing so. Enhancing Archetypes will make unlocking skills and related skill sets easier, so it may be viable to only trade in MAG when absolutely necessary to do so.

5) Choose battles wisely, and remember to save

It is not recommended to keep jumping into every single battle that shows up in your field of view. While it may be appealing to gain that few extra EXP from defeating more enemies, there's always the likelihood that unnecessary resources and items may need to be used in these fights. These can prove very helpful in major boss battles.

Additionally, save the game regularly to reload progress in case things go south. This includes creating timely manual saves, and not entirely relying on the autosave feature.
