Astrobot won the Game of the Year 2024. While the accolade came with a lot of controversy and heated discussions on online forums, one thing almost everyone agrees to is that the title is extremely fun to play. At least I had a blast playing the game on my PlayStation 5 and it somewhat upset me that the game is not available for PC gamers.

While I know Astrobot won’t work that well on PC because it is tailored to use all the features of the PS5 to offer an experience like none other, there are still other games that can give you the feel of Astrobot on PC. In this list, we have shared five such titles.

If you enjoy the dynamic movements and massive set-piece moments from Astrobot then Solar Ash can be the game for you. This title is an open-world platformer that features a charming indie art style and an amazing soundtrack.

You’ll skate across surreal landscapes, fight against massive bosses, and immerse yourself in an atmospheric adventure. While its tone and style somewhat differ from Astrobot's lighthearted nature, the breathtaking visuals and fluid gameplay make it a great addition to your library.

Neon White is one of the most unique platformer games that I have ever played. This indie title is made for speedrunning. While there are no direct rewards for keeping a record of the time it takes you to complete a level, doing so can add an interesting layer of personal challenge.

Neon White's innovative card-based mechanics blend shooting, parkour, and puzzle-solving in a way that’s completely unique. Though its vibe is far from Astrobot's family-friendly atmosphere, the focus on precision and creativity it offers in this genre makes Neon White an absolute treat for all platformer game lovers.

3) Elsie

With its pixelated graphics, Elsie is a love letter to the golden age of Platformer games, clearly inspired by vintage Sonic and Contra games, It is perfect if you want a trip to nostalgia lane. Set in a vibrant futuristic world, you’ll play as Elsie, an android searching for her lost companions.

The game features tight platforming, a variety of upgrades, and a colorful aesthetic that will appeal to robot enthusiasts. Just like Astrobot, Elsie is also a great platformer who takes everything good about these games and presents them in a fresh and polished manner.

4) The Plucky Squire

Like Astro Bot, The Plucky Squire is brimming with creative ideas. Players start in a charming 2D storybook world before leaping into 3D environments, creating a gameplay loop that is similar to Paper Mario and the Legends of Zelda: Link Between Worlds.

The Plucky Squire's inventive level design and whimsical atmosphere echo Astro Bot's creativity, making it a must-play if you are a fan of quirky platformers.

5) SteamWorld Dig 2

A classic that still holds its ground (Image via Image & Form Games)

This standout Metroidvania puts you in the shoes of Dorothy, a resourceful young robot, as she searches for Rusty from the first game. The gameplay loop is quite simple but very addictive: dig into mines, collect minerals, sell your loot, and use the earnings for upgrades like stronger pickaxes or better tools.

As you enhance Dorothy’s abilities, you’re also helping improve the lives of her town’s citizens. It’s a lot like rescuing bots in Astrobot but on a larger scale with deeper progression mechanics.
