1) Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is one of the closest titles to Black Myth Wukong, as it also belongs to the souls-like genre. The game is set in 1500s Japan, and you play Sekiro, a shinobi on a mission to save his lord, who has been abducted.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice takes heavy inspiration from Japanese mythology, similar to how Black Myth Wukong is based on Chinese mythology.
The game is popular for its difficulty spectrum, which tests your patience by presenting you with challenging bosses to fight. During your journey, you will encounter various mythical creatures and warriors. One unique gameplay feature in this title is that you can revive Sekiro when you die during a fight. However, you can only do so once.
2) Assassin's Creed Valhalla
Assassin's Creed Valhalla takes place in England. You take on the role of a Viking searching for a new home. The game is similar to Black Myth Wukong in more ways than one. It is also an RPG and takes heavy inspiration from ancient mythology (Norse).
In Assassin's Creed Valhalla, you will fight various gods (even Ragnarok himself in the DLC). The title boasts over 200 hours of content, and you can participate in different side quests after you have finished the main story. You will find the melee combat satisfying as you get to use axes to violently kill your enemies and raid settlements.
3) Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
In Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, you step into the shoes of Senua, a warrior on a mission to bring her deceased lover back from the dead by rescuing him from the Helheim. This emotional narrative, based on Celtic and Norse mythology, has touched the hearts of many players. The game is very similar to Black Myth Wukong as both derive their narrative from ancient mythology.
Even the action in the two games look similar. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice features a hack-and-slash combat system, something we are also expecting to see from Black Myth Wukong when it comes out.
4) Immortals Fenyx Rising
Like Black Myth Wukong, Immortals Fenyx Rising is an RPG that takes inspiration from ancientmythology (Greek in this game's case). You take on the role of a mortal named Fenyx, who is tasked with the responsibility of saving the Greek gods from a curse that is slowly making them weaker.
If you are a fan of the God of War franchise, you will recognize some familiar faces in the game, like Zeus.
5) Hades
Hades is an indie title that is also set in Greek mythology, but its premise is different from that of Immortals Fenyx Rising. As the protagonist, you are stuck in the underworld, and Hades is trying to hunt you down. Your mission is to escape the underworld before he gets his hands on you. In the process, you must fight enemies in the underworld who are trying to stop you.
This game was so well received that Hades 2 got a release very recently. The title features a hack-and-slash combat similar to Black Myth Wukong. Since it is a rogue-lite release, the difficulty spectrum is already at an all-time high. You must master your combat skills, or you will die repeatedly, forcing you to start all over again.
