The vast area of Thedas in Dragon Age The Veilguard poses many challenges for players, though the ability to have two allies accompany players on the journey can prove to be rather beneficial. With varied skillsets and abilities paired with unique strengths, the choice of party members to accompany Rook across the campaign is an important one.
The ability to change party members at will also gives players the freedom to explore different pairings. Unlike previous Dragon Age games, however, Veilguard only allows players to have two party members at any given time. 5 great party member pairings in Dragon Age The Veilguard
1) Lucanis and Emmrich
This pairing can be rather dangerous for enemies weak to Necrotic damage who wish to engage in battle with Rook and the party. Emmrich can detonate Sundered from Lucanis, while Emmrich's ability to slow time can also prove to be very beneficial in taking down enemies. Despite being an all-Necrotic pairing, they can be very useful, especially on certain side quests.
2) Neve and Harding
Incredibly skilled in dealing Cold damage, Neve makes for a great pairing with Harding's physical damage prowess on the battlefield. Should Rook be a Warrior, this pairing can be even more beneficial. Additionally, Harding can help with long-range offensives for the party while Neve's attacks apply Weakened to enemies affected by her Cold attacks. ]Harding also applies Sundered while Neve detonates it.
3) Davrin and Harding
Davrin is very useful in the heart of the battle, while Harding provides support with long-range spells and attacks. Harding's ability to apply Sundered while Davrin overwhelms the enemy makes for a very formidable defense against enemies. A warrior build for Rook can help Davrin in frontline combat while Harding assists from a longer range with skills such as Heavy Draw.
4) Emmrich and Taash
A combination of Emmrich and Taash may be beneficial, as Taash's Detonate capabilities paired with Emmrich applying Weakened can deal a lot of damage. Use Taash's Dragonfire Strike to deal damage to enemies, and make the most of Emmrich's Necromancer skill set to create a powerful pairing that can help take down large numbers of foes.
5) Bellara and Lucanis
The combination of Bellara and Lucanis works together well on the battlefield and can be great for crowd control. While Lucanis can tend to Necrotic damage to enemies weak to it, Bellara can deal extensive Electric damage with abilities such as Fade Bolts. The two also have a variety of ranged and close-range attacks. In addition to this, Lucanis can apply Sundered with Bellara detonating it.
