Five Vanguard heroes you should consider playing in Marvel Rivals
1) Venom
Venom is by far the best Vanguard in Marvel Rivals. He possesses a kit that allows him to dive into enemy lines and come back alive. This is significantly useful for his allies. They can easily follow up while he is creating chaos among the adversaries. If things go south, Venom can always swing back to his allies. To top it all off, he has access to shields that make him nearly undying.
Besides that, Venom possesses an exceptional ultimate that allows him to go behind the enemies to catch them off guard. He then takes advantage of this element of surprise and deals a massive chunk of damage. With the right team composition/characters backing him up, Venom is one of the dominant Vanguards in Marvel Rivals.
2) Captain America
Captain America is also an excellent Vanguard in Marvel Rivals, if played correctly. His kit primarily focuses on CC (Crowd Control) and defense with a bit of damage capabilities. Apart from his shield throw, Captain can block and deflect all incoming damage for a limited duration. This helps him and all allied characters to push up toward the objective.
Additionally, he can launch himself up in the air and slam to the ground, disorienting the enemies who are in close proximity. Be it attack or defense, Captain can easily prove to be useful in most scenarios.
3) Doctor Strange
Moving over to the next one, Doctor Strange is an exceptionally versatile Vanguard who can be just as effective in both offense and defense. His wizard abilities make him a ranged character, who can easily defend his allies from incoming damage by absorbing all of it with his shield. Additionally, Doctor Strange can fly into the air for a brief period and open up portals to catch the enemies off guard.
Apart from defending his allies, Strange can also go offensive as he possesses damage-dealing abilities. Since it's an AoE spell, Maelstrom of Madness deals damage to multiple enemies simultaneously.
4) Magneto
Another Vanguard you should be playing to secure victories one after another is Magneto in Marvel Rivals. He has a perfect balance of offensive and defensive abilities which makes him an appealing hero. As a ranged character, he can grant shields to his allies and himself using his kit simultaneously. Additionally, Magneto has a deployable shield that can be placed anywhere and used anytime.
Moreover, Magneto’s ultimate allows him to dish out a significant chunk of damage to an area. Since it's an AoE ability, all adversaries in said area will fall prey to the ability.
5) Groot
Last but not least, Groot is another character whom you can use since he can be considered a newbie-friendly Vanguard. His outgoing damage is quite low, but his ability to cover his teammates in most scenarios makes up for it.
Apart from that, Groot is a decent character whose abilities are perfect for CC. His ultimate can imprison the characters in its effective radius and pull them toward its center. If you like playing as a support Vanguard, Groot is the character you should be playing.
