Black Myth Wukong has an epic story campaign that takes the player on a journey across a Chinese mythology-inspired world. However, the game doesn't end after your first playthrough. Once you complete the story campaign, you can start a New Game+ mode where you can come across new content and secret bosses, as well as a new ending.
However, the NG+ of Black Myth Wukong is harder than the base run. To help you survive the challenge, we have listed the five best weapons that can give you the upper hand you will desperately need.

1) Dark Iron Staff
- Stats: 5 Burn Resistance, 5 Chill Resistance, 110 Attack
- Unique effect: Increases Attack significantly based on total Defense.
- Availability: Chapter 5 secret area (Defeat Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast, NG+).
The Dark Iron Staff is a heavy-hitter, particularly suited for those who prefer a tank-style build in Black Myth Wukong. Its base attack of 110 might not seem exceptional, but its true strength comes from its Unique Effect: the higher your defense, the stronger your attack. This makes the weapon shine when paired with high-defense armor sets like Bull King’s Armor, which can push both your defense and attack to extraordinary levels.
Players can further enhance the staff’s power by using specific Curios like the Gold Spikeplate, which significantly boosts defense stats. With the right combination of armor, Spirits, and Medicines, the Dark Iron Staff can deliver the highest attack power in the game, while still allowing players to tank incoming damage.
2) Jingubang
- Stats: 135 Attack, 6% Crit Chance
- Unique effect: 4th Focus Point gauge doesn’t deplete.
- Availability: Chapter 6 (Defeat Gold Armored Rhino, Cloudtreading Deer, Feng-Tail General, and Emerald-Armed Mantis. Then, head to Water Curtain Cave).
The Jingubang is an iconic staff not only in lore but also in its performance. It is widely regarded as one of the best weapon for NG+ builds in the game, though it excels in nearly all playstyles due to its high base attack. What sets this staff apart is its Focus gauge mechanic, which allows players to surpass the typical limitation of having Focus deplete over time once it reaches the 4th point.
This means that players can charge their Heavy Attack without rushing. The 135 Attack stat alone gives it immense raw power, but when combined with the Sun Wukong Stance (which is unlocked by defeating the secret boss Erlang Shen three times), the weapon becomes virtually unstoppable.
3) Adept-Spine Shooting Fuban Staff
- Stats: 120 Attack, 25% Crit Chance
- Unique effect: Each Focus Point of a Charged Heavy Attack recovers health and deals AoE damage.
- Availability: NG+ (Defeat Fuban in Chapter 2, Scopionlord and Hundred-Eyed Daoist Master in Chapter 4, then Fuban again).
The Adept-Spine Shooting Fuban Staff is a post-game powerhouse that can only be acquired in NG+. It’s an upgrade from the Chitin Staff and Spider Celestial Staff, and while obtaining it takes some effort, it’s absolutely worth the grind.

What makes this staff stand out is its combination of high base attack (120) and a remarkable 25% Crit Chance, which can lead to devastating bursts of damage.
Additionally, its Unique Effect allows each Focus Point of a Charged Heavy Attack to not only deal AoE damage but also restore health. This makes it an invaluable weapon for longer fights where health regeneration can keep players in the game, especially against tough bosses.
4) Spikeshaft Staff
- Stats: 80 Attack
- Unique effect: Gains Focus for a bit after See Through from Resolute Counterflow.
- Availability: Chapter 3.
The Spikeshaft Staff is one of the more specialized weapons in Black Myth Wukong, and while it doesn’t boast the highest stats, its Unique Effect is where its real potential lies. When players successfully trigger See Through or a Resolute Counterflow (a mechanic exclusive to Smash Stance builds), they gain Focus, allowing them to chain more devastating attacks.
The staff’s 80 Attack might seem low compared to others on this list, but with enough practice, it can still deal significant damage through Charged Heavy Attacks when the Resolute Counterflow is executed correctly.
5) Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff
- Stats: 60 Attack, 30 Defense
- Unique effect: Boosts the damage of Charged Heavy Smash Attacks.
- Availability: Chapter 2 (Defeat Shigandang after collecting all Buddha Eyeballs).
The Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff is an excellent weapon for Smash Stance builds. Its 60 Attack might not be high, but the additional 30 Defense helps players maintain a balance between offense and survivability. One of the staff’s most valuable attributes is its Unique Effect, which boosts the damage of Charged Heavy Smash Attacks.

While its stats won’t carry players deep into the late game, the Cloud-Patterned Stone Staff is perfect for the early chapters of the NG+, where defensive capabilities are just as important as offense. Compared to other early-game options like the Twin Serpents Staff or Wind Bear Staff, it stands out as the superior choice for players focusing on Smash Stance builds.
