5 massive Dota 2 win rate changes in patch update 7.37

1) Medusa

Medusa has always been a formidable presence in the late game, but Dota 2 Patch 7.37 has given her a much-needed boost. Her win rate has risen from 51.28% to 53.22%, with a pick rate increasing from 3.87% to 9.16%. The key to this surge lies in the introduction of her new basic ability, Gorgan’s Grasp.

This ability allows Medusa to fire a volley of arrows that land in three groups, each group larger than the last. Enemies hit are rooted and unable to turn, making them easy targets for Medusa’s ultimate, Stone Gaze.

The synergy between Gorgan’s Grasp and Stone Gaze has made Medusa a more reliable pick, especially in team fights where her new ability can turn the tide.

2) Ember Spirit

Ember Spirit has seen a significant rise in his win rate, moving from 50.26% to 52.79%, with an increased pick rate from 7.31% to 12.89%. The introduction of his new innate ability, Immolation, has played a crucial role in this change.

Immolation adds a second layer of fire damage to enemies within a radius, dealing 10/20/30/40 damage per second in a 175 AoE around Ember Spirit at all times. This passive ability scales with Fire Remnant and can be upgraded with Aghanim's Shard, further increasing its damage and radius.

The added consistent damage from Immolation makes Ember Spirit more dangerous in prolonged fights, contributing to his increased win rate.

3) Tinker

Tinker’s win rate has skyrocketed from 44.41% to 54.74%, making it one of the biggest winners of Patch 7.37. Tinker’s role as a utility support has been solidified with buffs to his Facet Repair Bots and his ability Warp Flare.

Repair Bots now provide increased healing to allies, from 20 HP per second to 45, while Warp Flare has been reworked to pull enemies towards Tinker instead of pushing them back.

This change makes Tinker a perfect hero for disrupting enemy positioning and supporting his team in chasing down fleeing opponents. The combination of these buffs has made Tinker a highly effective support hero, leading to his dramatic increase in win rate.

4) Tiny

Tiny has not fared well in Patch 7.37, with his win rate dropping from 51.35% to 46.70%. This decline is due to a series of nerfs since 7.36a that have weakened his overall effectiveness.

His abilities Avalanche and Toss now cost more mana, and both their damage and his talent tree have been nerfed. Additionally, his Facets have been debuffed, further reducing his impact in team compositions.

The damage nerfs to Toss and Grow, in particular, have made Tiny less effective in both initiating and finishing off enemies, leading to a decrease in both his win rate and pick rate.

5) Phantom Lancer

Phantom Lancer has seen a massive drop in his win rate, from 53.01% to 43.71%, making him one of the biggest losers in Patch 7.37. This decline can be attributed to several nerfs that have severely weakened his ability to carry games.

His ability Phantom Rush has reverted to being a skill, and his new innate ability Illusory Armaments now grants bonus damage instead of base damage, but at only 65% of the original bonus damage amount. Additionally, his talent tree has been altered, with the Level 25 Talent +20% Critical Strike (200%) replaced by +15% Illusory Armaments Damage.

These changes, along with damage nerfs to Spirit Lance and Juxtapose's illusions, have drastically reduced Phantom Lancer’s effectiveness, resulting in a significant drop in both his win rate and pick rate.

Patch 7.37 marked a dramatic shift in the Dota 2 landscape, with some heroes getting buffed and others suffering from nerfs. The winners in this patch turned out to be Medusa, Ember Spirit, and Tinker.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, Tiny and Phantom Lancer fell off the popularity list. It will be quite interesting to take note of how these win rates are going to evolve in future patches as players keep learning through the ropes of the new meta.
