These games are quite similar to Multiversus
1) Super Smash Bros
Smash Bros has been the king of platform fighters since it first launched. Not only did the game bring in characters from famous Nintendo franchises to participate in brawls, but it also brought the iconic locations associated with these characters. This game is a masterpiece in terms of its level design, and it is unique in that it brought something new to the market.
Smash Bros has characters like Mario, Sonic, Yoshi, and more that have their own unique skill set and powers. There are times when characters from third-party studios also enter the arena of Smash Bros like Snake and Megaman. The game has inspired countless others in the genre, including Multiversus, which uses a similar theme but with characters owned by Warner Bros.
2) Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl
Similar to Smash Bros, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl is a celebration of all the characters associated with Nickelodeon. The game doesn't offer anything particularly new as it has a similar look and feel to what Multiversus is going for. The roster is stacked with characters from the Nickelodeon universe like Spongebob Squarepants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Danny Phantom.
The gameplay is fun, with vibrant and colorful locations to look at while pulling off flashy moves to defeat your opponent. The game also features iconic locations from these universes, with each providing a new sense of verticality in the gameplay.
3) Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite
Marvel vs. Capcom is a franchise that has been active for a long time now. The general idea is that this is a fighting game crossover between Marvel and Capcom characters. The idea sounds fun and has always had a loyal fanbase. With characters like Iron Man, Captain America, and Doctor Strange from Marvel and Chris Redfield, Megaman, and Ryu from Capcom, the roster is nothing short of phenomenal.
There is even a story in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, but it isn't as popular as the story modes from the previous games. However, the game's multiplayer mode made up for any such shortcomings. It is fun to see popular locations from both franchises as our characters attempt to get a clean knockout on their opponent. Multiversus follows the same crossover concept but with properties owned by Warner Bros.
4) PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
When PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale was first announced, the fans were excited to see their favorite characters from different PlayStation franchises fighting against each other. Characters like Kratos, Nathan Drake, PaRappa, Sly Cooper, and many more were part of the roster along with a few characters from third-party games.
The gameplay was fun for the most part but it got repetitive too quickly. This title was released for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita back in 2012 and if this game got released today with new PlayStation characters, it would be a massive hit. This platform fighter played similarly to Multiversus and is a must-try if you get your hands on the game's physical copy.
5) Mortal Kombat 1
While Mortal Kombat 1 was not as well received as the previous entries because of microtransactions, the game was fun at heart. It is the latest entry in the Mortal Kombat universe that reboots this long-running series. With all the fan-favorite characters getting a makeover to look younger, this entry brings a new set of moves and fatalities to the table.
While the Nintendo Switch version of Mortal Kombat 1 is an absolute mess because of horrible framerate issues and graphics that looked like they were ripped straight from the PS2, the game is flawless on other platforms. Mortal Kombat 1 is different from Multiversus because it is not a platform fighter, but despite this, it still stands as a must-play fighting game.
