Since the boom of the mobile gaming industry, several iOS games from diverse genres stormed into the market annually giving platform players a plethora of options. These games compete with each other for a smaller chunk of the mobile gaming audience, given that many large titles don't create an iOS version of the mainline games. However, with the recent proliferation of iOS games, players can often feel overwhelmed about which to explore and find similar options.

To aid with that research, this article outlines a list of five iOS titles you should try in 2024. Entries in the article are versatile and comprise different categories. There are paid and free titles.

Wuthering Waves is an online Role Playing Game (RPG) where you can select a male or female main character. It is an open-world title set on a post-apocalyptic planet, Solaris-3. Your goal is to explore the planet and progress through the game. Play as Rover and join him/her in the quest to regain their memory. Different characters, having unique skill sets, can be unlocked by summoning.

Wuthering Waves is free to play, but it follows a gacha system. This means, the game hosts microtransactions and you may spend money to acquire an in-game item. Note that this item may or may not be desired. The title is developed by Kuro Games, and released on 22 May 2024 for PC, Android, and iOS devices. It can be downloaded from the App Store.

2) Death’s Door

This is an older title compared to others on the list. Death’s Door is an adventure RPG that features puzzle solving, combats, and exploration. You play as Reaper, a crow-like entity, and help him recollect a lost soul. The soul must be recovered to maintain the balance between life and death.

The combat is somewhat complicated but not too harsh. This iOS game can be recommended to casual players, thanks to its straightforward gameplay. There are puzzles and planning involved, so those who enjoy strategy games might find it interesting.

The title was developed by an indie company called Acid Nerve and published by Devolver Digital. Death’s Door can be purchased from App Store among other online stores.


3) Assassin’s Creed Mirage

Assassin’s Creed Mirage is now available on iOS. The game follows the journey of a thief and assassin, Basim, who is good at heart. You sift through enemies and progress through the game. Foes can be dealt with by killing or just evading altogether. The title mixes the themes of stealth and action and adds a touch of open-world feel. Basim is accompanied in his adventures by his trusty eagle named Enkidu.

The game is developed by Ubisoft and has been recently released for iOS devices. The title can be purchased from the App Store.

4) BEAST: Bio Exo Arena Suit Team

Beast is an online PVP title. Players collect heroes and build teams to engage in 3v3 battles. Your goal is to knock out members of the opponent team and acquire energy. The energy can be collected and used to activate the Bio Exo Arena Suit, called Beast. It is a pilot-able machine that can deal more damage to the rival team. The suit will be deactivated when it takes a lot of damage. The title hosts a battle mode called the 'Team Death Match.' In this format, the first team KO rival team members 15 times wins.

This iOS game was developed and published by Oh BiBi. This is the same studio that developed the mobile game Frag. BEAST: Bio Exo Arena Suit Team is available for Apple Arcade subscribers.


5) Wildfrost

Wildfrost is a rogue-like deckbuilder iOS game. This means it combines elements of deck-building and progression through procedurally made levels. It is one of the lesser-known games. The objective of the title is to fight off the source of the wild and eternal winter and bring back summers to the world. Your goal is to collect cards and build a powerful deck that can help accomplish the target.

Wildfrost is a turn-based game with unique mechanics. You take turns to place or move cards, which perform their intended functions after the timer hits zero. This iOS game was developed and released by Chucklefish Ltd. The full version of the title has to be purchased, but a free demo is available.
