Mistakes you should not make while playing with Jiaoqiu in Honkai Star Rail
1) Building Jiaoqiu with wrong Relics and stats
One of the primary mistakes that you shouldn’t be making is building Jiaoqiu with the wrong Relic sets or stats. If you build him with the incorrect stats and Relics, Jiaoqiu won’t be able to perform as intended and will let his teammates down. Additionally, building Jiaoqiu with the wrong Relic set means you wasted a good amount of Trailblaze Power that you cannot get back or reacquire.
Moreover, if you got the right Relic sets with the wrong stats, he will be functional but not as impactful while fighting. If you are facing issues building Jiaoqiu in Honkai Star Rail, you can check our build guide.
2) Placing him in teams that don’t suit his playstyle
Another mistake that's very easy to make is to place Jiaoqiu in team compositions that don't suit his playstyle, especially the FUA (follow-up attack) teams. Placing him in teams that don't suit his playstyle will not affect his gameplay but will affect the other units in the same team. Therefore, placing Jiaoqiu in team compositions that fits his playstyle is ideal for him.

3) Prioritizing a singular stat
One thing that is quite common among the Honkai Star Rail players is prioritizing a single stat for eye candy. However, it's okay to do so in some cases, but for Jiaoqiu, you should not do it. Since most of his abilities inflict debuffs, especially DoT debuff, the chances of him inflicting it on enemies scale with his EHR (Effect Hit Rate) stat.
Even if you achieve a good amount of EHR which is satisfying to look at, an excessive amount of the stat doesn't matter to Jiaoqiu as he won't be able to use it. Therefore, instead of overinvesting in a single stat, you can just aim for the best Relic pieces with all the stats he needs.
4) Not knowing how Jiaoqiu’s abilities work
Not having a basic understanding of how the character works while playing them is a crime you shouldn’t commit, especially with Jiaoqiu as his kit is rather easy to understand. Understanding how his kit works will greatly help you play well with the character while also mastering his playstyle in Honkai Star Rail.
This will help you in the long run as having the debuffs up all the time will boost the DPS units’ damage by a significant margin.
5) Pairing Jiaoqiu with characters that have no synergy with him
Lastly, one thing you should always keep in mind when playing Honkai Star Rail is to not place a character with others who do not have synergy between them. As for Jiaoqiu, you should follow the same rule.
Since Jiaoqiu’s kit is mostly inflicting debuffs and lowering the opponent’s defense, allowing the DPS units of the team to deal a hefty amount of damage, he shines when placed in a team with DoT characters such as Acheron, Kafka, Black Swan, and more.
