Moze is the newest 4-star character in Honkai Star Rail who harmonizes with most of the units, excelling in a follow-up attack playstyle. Since he is strictly a sub-DPS unit, players must build him and construct a team according to his preference so he shines while fighting. While he requires some specific characters and Relic stats to make the most out of his kit, many players may end up making some mistakes.

To make sure Trailblazers avoid errors that will cost them their precious resources, we will highlight five of the most important mistakes that should be avoided while playing Moze in Honkai Star Rail.

Mistakes all players should avoid while playing with Moze in Honkai Star Rail

1) Pairing the wrong buffers with Moze

If you understand Moze’s kit, you will know this Shadow Guard has specific needs while engaging in a fight. Thus, most Harmony units in Honkai Star Rail do not harmonize with Moze. This is mainly because while the Shadow Guard is in the Departed state, no buffers can buff him.

The only buffers that synergize with Moze are the ones who can buff him indirectly. In other words, those who buff all characters in the party. Since Moze features the FUA playstyle, Robin is currently the best buffer for him.

2) Building Moze with incorrect Relics

Every character who excels in all fights has a good build with the correct Relic set. Therefore, picking the right Relic set when building a character is extremely crucial, especially when they are a DPS unit.

Since Moze is a follow-up attack character, you need to give him Relic pieces that enhance his FUAs. For that reason, some sets work better on him than others. If you have a hard time understanding or choosing how to build this Shadow Guard, you can check out our Moze build guide.

3) Placing Moze in a team that doesn’t suit his playstyle

Note that you should always place a character in team compositions that suit their playstyle. In Moze’s case, he needs to be placed in a follow-up attack team so he can utilize his abilities to their full potential.

Placing him in a team that doesn’t suit his playstyle will just handicap him and he will lose a significant amount of damage over time. This means he will not be as effective as when he is placed in a FUA team.

4) Prioritizing only one stat while building Moze

When building a character in Honkai Star Rail, every player has free reign on what stats and items they want to give to the unit. However, one thing Trailblazers shouldn’t do when they are building a character is to prioritize a single stat over everything else.

While looking at an unusually high stat can be quite satisfying, it's a waste of resources, which can be used for other activities or fine-tuning another character’s build.

5) Using Moze as the sole or primary DPS unit of the team

Judging by how Moze’s abilities work in Honkai Star Rail, he fills up the sub-DPS role in every team composition. To function properly and utilize his abilities to their maximum potential, the Shadow Guard requires another DPS unit, ideally a follow-up attack unit to accompany him in every fight.

Since releasing his follow-up attacks requires his allies to attack the enemies continuously, units such as Feixiao and Topaz are excellent when paired with him.

In conclusion, avoid building a hypercarry team with Moze as the sole DPS unit, as he will not be able to live up to your expectations and deal negligible damage to the enemies.
