Rappa is one of the newest characters in Honkai Star Rail, debuting a couple of days ago. Since she is a new character boasting an identical play style as the meta-defining units, many have pulled for her. However, similar to almost all characters’ debut, players tend to keep making mistakes when they are building and playing with the character since they know little about their newly acquired character.
For that reason, here are five mistakes that each and every player should avoid at all costs when playing with Rappa in Honkai Star Rail.

Mistakes players should absolutely not make while playing Rappa in Honkai Star Rail
1) Understanding how Rappa’s abilities work
Understanding how most of Rappa’s abilities function in Honkai Star Rail should be one of the first things a player should do to master her playstyle. Doing so allows the players to unleash the maximum potential of the unit and is extremely crucial for most high-tier activities.
While in a fight, all players must do is use Rappa’s skill to generate Ultimate Energy and make use of their Enhanced Basic ATK. Since Rappa can only use her Enhanced version of Basic ATK after triggering Ultimate, it's her primary source of damage.
2) Using two DPS units in a same team composition
As most Trailblazers may already know, Rappa is a 5-star character who excels in dealing damage by inflicting Weakness Break on enemies. In order to deal significant amount of BE damage, she needs hypercarry teams. Therefore, swapping a character out with another DPS character may seem like it would work, but Rappa will lose out on a great amount of damage.
While dual DPS Rappa team comps can work for most Pure Fiction stages, they will feel lackluster in activities that require an absurd chunk of damage in few turns.
3) Placing Rappa in a team with dissimilar playstyle
Team building is fundamental in the turn-based HoYoverse title. If players cannot perfect the art of team building, they will be at a significant disadvantage when challenging end-game activities. For Rappa’s case, players must build a Break Effect team composition with the characters that deal phenomenal BE damage, boost the BE damage dealt by the DPS unit, and healers.
Moreover, all characters need to have good synergy with the other in order to make this team composition work. Therefore, if Rappa is placed in any team composition where the characters do not excel in the BE playstyle, her damage dealt will be negligible.
4) Investing in only Break Effect
Rappa needs that Break Effect stat to deal damage and function properly, so all players must look for it as either the main or sub-stat in their Relic and Planar Ornament sets. Moreover, you can check out our Rappa build guide if you are facing issues while farming equipment for her.
Since she needs a maximum of 250% Break Effect for the maximum amount of damage output, any more of the same stat given to her will be wasted as the damage difference is not noticeable. While you are farming for BE Relic and Planar Ornament pieces, you should stop perfecting your build when you reach the maximum threshold and not waste precious Trailblaze Power.
5) Building Rappa in Honkai Star Rail with the wong piece of equipments
The usability of most characters in Honkai Star Rail is defined by Relic sets. When bestowed with the right ones, each unit can either deal a stupendous amount of damage, grant a good amount of healing, or grant game-changing stats as buffs. Since Rappa is a damage dealer, her hidden potential is mostly locked behind the good Relic sets. Therefore, when building her, you should be careful while picking out what you are going to farm and give her.
If you end up farming for the incorrect equipment, you not only throw away Trailblaze Power, you will be wasting a lot of time. Therefore, always check what a character needs before you start farming Relics or Ornaments for them if you are unsure.
