Five mistakes that every player should avoid while playing as Yunli in Honkai Star Rail
1) Placing Yunli in the wrong team composition
Placing Yunli in a team composition with characters who don't synergize with her abilities should be avoided at all costs. Since she mostly deals damage through Follow-Up attacks, teams with FUA units or a Hypercarry set-up will be able to take advantage of her skillset.
If Yunli is placed in a Weakness Break damage team, she will fail to shine on the battlefield as most of the characters in such a team enhance the DPS units’ Weakness Break effect damage.
2) Building Yunli with the incorrect equipment
Another mistake players can make is building Yunli with the wrong equipment in Honkai Star Rail. Since she is a brand-new character, many players may not understand her abilities.
The Trailblazers who know how Yunli’s kit works can easily avoid this mistake. But those who don’t can take a look at a Yunli build guide to ensure they equip her with the right set, such as Light Cones, Relic sets, and Planar Ornaments.
3) Not understanding Yunli’s kit and utilizing her abilities properly
As mentioned previously, Yunli is one of the newest units in Honkai Star Rail; therefore, players may not know how her kit works. Consequently, she will deal sub-par amounts of damage if players use her abilities incorrectly.
Yunli unleashes a follow-up attack to damage her opponents. Additionally, her kit features a unique gameplay mechanic named “Parry.” This allows her to immediately launch a counterattack when hit by an opponent. Since her Ultimate grants this feature, players should activate it right before Yunli gets hit by an enemy, or she may lose the opportunity to deal an absurd amount of damage.
4) Prioritizing a singular stat while overlooking others
Like most other DPS units in Honkai Star Rail, Yunli is quite simple to build. Players just need to find the right stats on the Relic set that suits her kit the best. However, some make the mistake of prioritizing a single stat over others.
While a whopping 250% CRIT DMG looks nice on the character screen, if the CRIT Rate is not high enough to land CRITs, it will not be worth the Trailblaze Power since Yunli will not be dealing remarkable damage. Therefore, a 65%- 90% CRIT Rate with a 150-175% CRIT DMG should be more than enough, as this build will deal significant amounts of damage constantly.
5) Pairing Yunli with characters that have the same playstyle
The last mistake Trailblazers should avoid is pairing Yunli with a character who has an identical playstyle. While some may find the above a good idea, it will not be fruitful. For example, if Yunli is partnered with Clara, both will deal negligible damage.
Since both units rely on getting hit to deal damage and can direct adversaries’ aggro on themselves, players might think this pair will work in various activities and deal damage constantly. In reality, when both units are engaged in an actual fight, they will just hinder the damage dealing capability of each other.
