Not every weapon in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree was created equal—some are absolutely overpowered. However, this comes down to personal opinion, some people feel that even the greatest weapons in the game are weak or useless. That could be because they refuse to use a particular playstyle or aren’t really into whatever Ash of War that weapon could be equipped with. Whatever the reason, it all comes down to taste and choice.

These weapons were picked based on their ease of use, power, and overall accessibility. While your gameplay experience may vary, we found some weapons to be absolutely overpowered and busted in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Ultimately, any weapon in this DLC can be overpowered with enough skill, these are hardly the only busted weapons in the game.

Which Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree weapons are overpowered?

1) Sword of Darkness

Are you running a Faith build and need a solid weapon to stab and slice your way through enemies? This Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree weapon is the right overpowered pick for you. The Sword of Darkness scales on Strength/Dexterity/Faith, it’s relatively easy to get, and has pretty incredible stats all around. Just take the Stone-Sheathed Sword to the Altar of Darkness in the Ruins of Unte, and you have this amazing weapon.

Combine that with its Darkness skill, and you can devastate groups of enemies in short order. I love that massive plume of smoke that swirls around the player that not only deals holy damage but also debuffs, reducing holy damage negation.

2) Star-Lined Sword

Thought by many to easily be one of the most overpowered weapons in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, this Katana has an amazing look and scales with Strength/Dexterity/Intelligence. It’s great for builds that focus on either of those stats and is dropped by Demi-human Queen Marigga in Charo’s Hidden Grave.

Its Art of War scales off of Intelligence, so even if you have 20-30 Intel, you’ll get a lot out of Onze’s Line of Stars. Activating this attack leads to a series of incredible sword strikes, using sorcerous energy. You can use repeated inputs for two follow-up attacks, and each one hits harder than the last. With a low FP cost (10), it pairs nicely with the weapon's already fantastic move set.

3) Smithscript Greathammer

Not everyone is a fan of the Smithscript weapons, but I don’t agree with that opinion. In particular, the Smithscript Greathammer is just a ridiculous, overpowered weapon in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. A solid Strength/Dexterity/Intelligence weapon, it’s got a smart look, has great damage, and lets you channel your inner Thor.

That’s right, if you use the Heavy Attack, you throw the weapon a solid distance and it returns to your hand almost instantly. It does have a sort of slow wind-up, so I don’t recommend doing it mid-combat unless you’re very sure of yourself.

It’s found in Taylew’s Ruined Forge and is worth seeking if you love ranged combat. It also features the Endure skill, which braces you for an incoming attack and increases your Poise temporarily. Any damage taken during this time is reduced, so it’s a solid tanky ability.

4) Milady

One of the ways to get overpowered early in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is to use this weapon: Milady. Don’t be fooled by its ridiculous name, this Light Greatsword is an amazing Strength/Dexterity weapon. You can get it early, it doesn’t take too much struggle to unlock it: it’s in a chest in a watchtower early in Castle Ensis.

Pair this with Wing Stance to hit incredibly hard, and also have an easier time breaking an enemy’s stance. Overall, it’s an easy-to-acquire, easy-to-use weapon, and Impaling Thrust allows you to pierce through enemy shields, which is also great in its own way.

5) Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword

The Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword is also one of the most overpowered weapons in the game, especially towards the mid-game of the DLC. With an aesthetic reminiscent of Nightmare in Soulcalibur, this Colossal Sword scales with Strength and Arcane. I’m a sucker for huge, powerful magical swords.

Unlocked in the Ruined Forge Starfall Past, it takes a little work to get to. This brilliant weapon also has White Light Charge, which is a mighty AOE skill. Just be careful when you dash with it, so you don’t send yourself into a dangerous situation. The final burst from White Light Charge is immense though, so it’s worth it.
