Apex Legends is one of the most popular battle royale games and is filled with exciting characters and weapons. It features various game modes including casual/pubs and Ranked Leagues games. The latter is for the players to show off their skills and climb the rank ladder to become one of the best.

While many can climb the rank ladders or become victorious consecutively, some fall behind. If you think you are in the latter category, there can be several reasons holding you back, and figuring out what it is may not be straightforward.

With that being said, this article goes over the five reasons that are holding you back from performing well in Apex Legends.

The reasons that are holding you back from performing well in Apex Legends

1) Bad Positioning

Positioning is one of the most important factors when battling against your opposition in Apex Legends. It can be implemented in various circumstances which can help you gain an upper hand mid-fight. When you don't have a position advantage, you are more likely to get knocked down instantly.

Therefore, try to get a positional advantage over the enemies such as climbing on top of a building or just staying in a higher position than them. This will help you win more fights since the enemies will have a harder time hitting you while you can easily hit them, especially if there is no cover near them.

2) Fighting enemies alone

Another reason you are not winning fights or performing well is you push in and fight the enemy squad single-handedly. Since the opponent team has a man advantage, they can easily win the fight against you. Hence, you must stop pushing alone towards them on your own to improve.

Try to play with your teammates and push together as a team. This will help you win way more fights allowing you to secure the victory. If you are solo queuing, you should look at where your teammates are going and stick close to them as much as possible.

3) Missing shots/bullets

Missing your shots is also one of the reasons you are struggling when playing Apex Legends. If you miss your shots and do not deal your share of damage, your squad may get wiped. Although this reason is directly related to aiming, it varies from player to player on what they want to do to improve.

You can download various aim-improving applications such as Aimlabs or KovaaK’s to practice and polish your aim. Additionally, you can load into the in-game Firing Range to get used to the weapon recoils. Playing the TDM, Control, and Lockdown game modes is another way you can improve your aim since it is a place where most players practice or warm their aim up.

4) Communication

When playing normal pubs or Ranked, communication is the key to victory in Apex Legends. It plays an important part in every match since you can tell your teammates how much damage you have dealt and who your teammates should push toward or focus on.

When there is no communication and each player is doing a random things on their own, fighting or wiping a full squad can prove to be difficult since there is no synergy. Additionally, you may end up getting wiped if the opponents decide to push you or your teammates together and you won’t get to know until it's too late to help.

5) Lack of Confidence

When playing Apex Legends, the key to success is to have confidence. If you lack confidence or feel like you might die while fighting a team and run away from there leaving your team, it might be the reason why you are struggling to rank up. Every player should be confident no matter what situation they are in.

If you end up in a 1v1 situation and since both of your teammates are knocked down, keep your composure and fight the remaining opponent. You are more likely to do well and improve when you are confident in the fights you take and keep your composure.
