Black Myth Wukong is one of the most highly anticipated releases of 2024. Game Science's first endeavor in the world of AAA gaming has caught the attention of the whole world. What started as a gameplay clip many years ago is now a complete title and will be coming out later this year.

Everything we've seen of Black Myth Wukong so far has been really promising. The combat, the setting, and the stunning visuals have left players excited to see what the game has to offer.

Black Myth Wukong could end up being one of the biggest releases of this year, and here are five reasons to be excited about it.

Why players should be excited for Black Myth Wukong

1) Iconic tale

The story of Black Myth Wukong is inspired by Journey to the West, a 16th-century novel that tells the story of Sun Wukong, also known in Chinese mythology as the Monkey King.

This title also has soulslike elements in it, so it'll be interesting to see how the storytelling is handled. An action RPG inspired by Journey to the West is all the reason people need to be excited.

2) Innovative combat

The combat in Black Myth Wukong makes it feel like a soulslike title, but its fluidity is what makes it stand out. The combat is still methodical, and you have to strategize to win, but the speed at which everything happens shows Game Science's latest title is trying something new with the soulslike formula.

While the primary weapon is Sun Wukong's staff, there is also a ton of magic thrown into the mix. It'll be interesting to see what kind of abilities the players have at their disposal in battle.

3) Stellar visuals

Every piece of gameplay footage that people have seen of Black Myth Wukong makes one thing absolutely clear: the game is a visual marvel. Everything that has been portrayed so far is amazingly detailed, and the title truly makes full use of the capabilities of Unreal Engine 5. Even more so than the looks, it's the smooth animation that meshes everything together to offer a stunning display.

Even if everything else about this release fails to hit the mark, its visuals have already knocked it out of the park. Hopefully, the game will retain this quality at launch.

4) Boss battles

Epic boss battles are the bread and butter of any good soulslike title, and the same can be said for Black Myth Wukong. Including last year's demos and all the gameplay footage on YouTube, it is safe to conclude that there are plenty of stunning boss fights in this game. We've already seen plenty of action, and the title is not even close to its release date.

Surely, we've only just scratched the surface of cool bosses in Black Myth Wukong with the likes of the Tiger Vanguard and Giant Centipede.

5) Wielding Magic

Sun Wukong, the protagonist in Black Myth Wukong, is a mythical figure in Chinese mythology. He wields a magical staff and has tons of other magical abilities at his disposal. In the trailers, we've seen our protagonist clone himself, transform into an insect, and ride a cloud.

The legend of Sun Wukong mentions several other abilities, so we will likely get to see more when the full game is out.
