#3 The Realism
Speaking exclusively of fighting games, most fighting game franchises have maintained a 2-D stage with walls on both sides. Now there's nothing outwardly wrong about this approach, except it limits the gameplay in more ways you can imagine. Tekken, on the other hand, has always had a 3-D stage which gives a whole other aspect to the gameplay, both on offence and defence.
There is one other thing about Tekken that's not very common in fighting games. The gameplay looks very real, not the animation and graphics, gameplay. The characters are modelled after real people. Martial Law is based on Bruce Lee. King is a typical masked Mexican wrestler. Shaheen, the new character in Tekken 7 was finalised after consultations with the Saudi Arabian Tekken community. Every character is more than just a character.
